Both officials attended the international conference ‘Central and South Asia: Regional Connectivity. Challenges and Opportunities’ in Tashkent, TASS news agency reported.
The Russian foreign minister highlighted the 20th anniversary of the signing of the Good Neighborhood, Friendship and Cooperation Treaty between the two countries.
He noted that this agreement played a vital role in shaping bilateral relations, comprehensive partnership and strategic interaction.
On June 28, Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Chinese counterpart, Xi Jinping, agreed to extend the Treaty, which is considered of vital importance in the development of bilateral relations.
According to Putin, the document enshrines fundamental agreements related to the protection of state unity and territorial integrity of both states, in addition to the use of nuclear weapons, respect for the sovereign right to choose their governments, forms of development and non-interference in internal affairs.
