In a telephone conversation, al-Assad wished Raisi success in the performance of his presidential duties and in the mission of leading the Persian nation towards greater progress, as well as continuing the march of achievements in all fields, Syrian presidency reported in a press release published on Telegram.

It indicated that both heads of state expressed their enthusiasm and determination to continue working to promote bilateral cooperation in all spheres.

They also agreed to continue consultations and coordination on issues of common interest.

Ebrahim Raisi was elected president on June 18 after getting almost 18 million votes, or about 62 percent of the total, while Syrian President Bashar al-Assad was re-elected in elections held on May 26, after getting the support of more than 95 percent of the more than 14 million Syrians who exercised their right to vote.
