Brazilian discus thrower suspended for doping

Brasilia, Jul 2 (Prensa Latina) Brazilian discus thrower Fernanda Borges, qualified for Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games, was caught in an anti-doping test conducted in may this year and is provisionally suspended.

The Lance sports portal assured that Borges´ case came to light on the day she won a cap for the 2020 Olympic Games and was included on the Brazilian Athletics Confederation CBAt) list.

The banned substance that was detected is Ostarine, of the anabolic agent class, banned under WADA (World Anti-Doping Agency) rules.

Faced with the fact, the athlete form Rio Grande do Sul claimed to be innocent and hired attorney Marcelo Franklin to prove that she was victim of cross-contamination.

The disclosure was made by the Athletics Integration Unit, an independent organization that manages all doping cases and is linked to World Athletics, but has autonomy in this matter. Hours earlier, Fernanda had her name released among the 52 called to athletics for the Tokyo Olympics.
