The results of the voting on Cuba’s draft demanding the end of the US blockade demonstrates the island’s just demand and the condemnation by the international community to the blockade, al-Mekdad wrote in a communiqué.
The official stressed that the unilateral coercive measures have become one of the inmoral weapons of the United States to impose its will on the peoples and force them to submit to its hegemony, in a blatant violation of the International Right.
He stated that the fact that only Israel and the United States voted against this resolution proves once again they are adopting an identical policy based on expansion, hegemony and hostility towards the peoples.
Syria and Cuba are essential partners in the resistance to the destructive policies of the US administration, Israel, and the West, which constitute a threat to international peace and stability, al-Mekdad said.
The minister reiterated Syria’s firm position of support to Cuba and its just causes, and full solidarity until the greatest victory has been achieved: the lifting of the unjust blockade imposed on the friendly Cuban people.
