Since June 1, clashes between gangs to control the southern exit of Port-au-Prince have pushed thousands of families to take refuge in shelters or public spaces, while the authorities cannot still restore peace in the area.

Last week, similar incidents displaced hundreds of people from Delmas commune, one of the largest district in the country, among them people with disabilities whose houses the gangs set fire.

Due to the tense situation in the area, managers from the Delmas 2 Hospital, one of the few dedicated to the care of Covid-19 patients, assess transferring the patients to other institutions and even closing the center permanently.

For its part, the Haitian Industries Association denounced the attacks and looting of businesses by armed gangs, which generated enormous economic losses.
