Salinas alluded to the threat, stating that he maintains the expectation and hopes of controlling the health situation by promoting massive vaccination.
According to an official report, almost three million people have received one or two doses of vaccines to date, mostly from China’s Sinovac pharmaceutical company and Pfizer from the United States and Germany.
The official related these figures to a ‘downward trend in new daily cases and the number of assets,’ from 37,000 to 25,000, and of patients in intensive care from 555 to 379 so far in June.
However, the death figures remain high, for a cumulative of 5,316 in the course of the pandemic.
In dialogue with the press, Salinas warned that the Delta strain, discovered for the first time in India, has already spread to more than 60 countries, including Brazil, and implies a change in the evolution of the pandemic.
