She declared that the recruitment of volunteers is taking place now and that the study will be carried out in three phases in different pediatric medical centers of Moscow.
Rakova pointed out that depending on the results obtained, a decision will be made regarding the inclusion of teenagers in the vaccination program again coronavirus SARS-CoV-2, source of the disease.
350 persons will participate in the study: 100 in the first and the second phase and 250 in the third.
The trials shall be conducted on adolescents that did not get infected with Covid-19 and do not have contraindications for Sputnik V or comorbidities.
Sputnik V, which is already used for persons over 18 years old, but with a lower dose, will be administered to the volunteers.
Rakova mentioned that before the vaccination in the first and the second phases of the study all the teenagers have to go through a full medical examination, including PCR tests.
The study will have a duration of a year from the beginning and during that time the persons involved will be under constant medical supervision.
Following the vaccination with the first and the second components, the adolescents will be on isolation for three days at the hospitals chosen for the study and after that they will have to undergo periodic tests.
By means of a special mobile phone application, the teenagers will keep a personal observation diary and at the same time they will be monitored by doctors by phone.
