At dusk, bumper-to-bumper vehicles moved along the Montevideo crowded coastline boulevard carrying Cuban and Uruguayan flags and posters condemning aggressive US policy on Cuba.
Former Uruguayan Ambassador in Havana Eduardo Loriel recalled ‘such a beautiful experience of coexistence with the Cuban people’ and expressed ‘permanent solidarity against criminal, brutal blockade,’ in a message to Prensa Latina.
As to Gregory Randall, Professor at the University of the Republic, the US blockade was not only unable to bend the spirit of the Cuban people and achieve the US goals, but it also paid for unnecessary and properly criminal suffering for over 60 years.
Randall stressed that amid the Covid-19 pandemic, the Cuban people showed solidarity and generosity and aided different parts of the globe to fight coronavirus, hunger and ignorance.
Journalist, musician and sculptor Carlos Medina, on the other hand, said that if Joe Biden thinks he´s presiding over a great nation ‘just turn the most shameful page in the history of the United States and put an end to the blockade, the peoples of the world will appreciate it.’
