In exclusive statements to Prensa Latina, Isa expressed that the United States ‘does not forgive Cuba for having initiated the process towards the second independence of Our America, or for having launched a redemptive revolution for all its oppressed population, or the decorum, firmness and rebellion of the Cubans against their cruel colonialism’.
‘There are aggressions with the rank of crime against humanity, which should not be carried out against any country; less against such a beautiful island and such a joyful, heroic and supportive people; even less, in the name of human rights and democracy, especially because of the load of cynicism and simulation that such a fallacious argument contains,’ he said.
He also noted that the Cuban people are suffering a drastic blockade by US imperialism, with sanctions against third parties, which has lasted for 60 years, and has meant enormous restrictions, immense losses and greater hardships.
Isa stated that the aforementioned sanctions are a violation of the right, to their survival, to the health and life of more than 11 million human beings and a ‘vile way – supported by an abusive economic, political and military power – to attack and deny individual and collective human rights in the name of freedom and peace’.
An economic war which, in his words, added to other forms of violence and terror over six decades represents losses for Cuba of 147.853 million dollars.
Finally, he argued that the stubborn denial of democracy implied by imposing the blockade against the majority will of the states and peoples of the world is even more outrageous; which in successive UN General Assemblies repudiated the cruel attempts to economically suffocate and crush the island.
