With this new batch, more than 18,171,000 Sinovac vaccine doses have been received in Chile.
Upon receiving the new batch at the Arturo Merino International Airport, Chilean Health Minister Enrique Paris pointed out that all vaccines currently being applied in the country are rather effective and safe, and also said that the ones from Sinovac avoids hospital admission 100%.
Paris recalled thatChile is also applying Pfizer, AstraZeneca and CanSino vaccine doses to its population, from which new batches will be arriving in coming days.
Chilean health minister reported that 77.8% of little more than 15,400,000 people have been vaccinated with the first dose.
He also pointed out that it is expected to begin next week the vaccination to minors (from 12 to 17 years of age) with comorbidity.
Despite the advanced vaccination program, Chile keeps high rates of coronavirus infections that have recently pushed to increase quarantine times and other restrictive measures.
