The Ministry of Foreign Relations denounced that this movement illustrated the desire of the bloc to build ‘clichés’ and oppress other nations.

‘The days when global decisions were dictated by a small group are over,’ said Zhao Lijian, a spokesman for the Ministry.

The official reiterated Beijing’s determination to defend its sovereignty, interests and territorial integrity, and demanded that the G7 stop meddling in internal issues, urging the international community to defend multilateralism, unity and cooperation among all countries.

Aside from refuting the position of the group, China opposed NATO accusations made on Tuesday and assured that its military development and modernization ‘is defensive, justified, reasonable, open and transparent in nature.’

As Zhao indicated, China always follows the principle of not using nuclear weapons first at any time, under any circumstance or to threaten states that do not possess such weapons.

‘China will not present systemic challenges to anyone, but we will not sit around and wait without doing anything if systemic challenges come closer to us,’ the government remarked.
