The deputy told Venezolana de Television that the political stability of the nation is based on the electoral vote and condemned the call for abstention by the extreme right wing, which, he said, goes against the country’s democratic culture.

Martinez said he has always proclaimed the need to participate and elect and that they cannot give up an inherent element in democracy and in any country in the world, which is the vote. He added that abstention is bad for everyone because the fundamental instrument of influence is to vote.

Martinez said that a fundamental part of the problem is that there is not one opposition in Venezuela, but several opposition trends. An intra-opposition dialogue is needed in the country.

He also stressed that if those sectors are not able to interpret Venezuelans and even to understand each other, they have nothing to offer the people.

He also recalled that shortcuts will not lead to anything in Venezuela; neither coups d’états, he said, multilateral intervention, nor insurrections will guarantee that Venezuela will move forward.

Finally, the parliamentarian emphasized that dialogue and reconciliation are fundamental for the future of the prosperous Venezuela that is dreamed of, which will ensure widespread wellbeing.
