In that regard, the report noted that investment had dropped 4.6 points, to 79.8 percent, in relation to the previous month.
Experts expected a rise to 86.0 points. In May, the marker reached a highest point of 84.4 in more than 21 years.
However, the current economic situation is seen positively. The corresponding indicator rose 31 percent to -9.1 points. Analysts predicted -28 points.
ZEW President Achim Wambach noted the probability of a decrease in expectations due to the considerably better assessment of the economic situation, displaying levels like those previous to the Covid-19 pandemic.
All this data have a bearing on reports and analyses by ZEW and prospects as to the investing environment that despite of its worsening due to the pandemic, can improve in the next few months.
