In a statement which Prensa Latina had access to, the organization, which has three decades of work in solidarity with the Cuban Revolution repudiated the fact that the European Parliament host an analysis on ‘the political situation and human rights’ in Cuba, at the initiative of a group of right-wing MEPs.
‘We deny this body any legitimacy to give lessons on democracy and human rights to Cuba, while racism, xenophobia and discrimination are dangerously increasing in Europe,’ Cuba Si France stated.
According to the French association, if the European Parliament takes that path, it should start by addressing the impact of the genocidal, immoral and illegal blockade imposed on Cuba for more than 60 years.
‘We demand that the European Parliament be clear in its demand for the end of the blockade and that it also break its complicit and immoral silence around daily events worldwide, especially in Latin America and the Middle East, which generate universal consternation’.
