He described the political relations between the peoples, parties and governments of Cuba and China as excellent.

Cuba was the first country in the Western Hemisphere to establish diplomatic relations with Beijing on September 28, 1960.

Among other areas, their ties include cooperation in the economic, trade, health, education, industry, agriculture, telecommunications, scientific, technological and biotechnological sectors.

The Friendship Medal is a prize awarded by the Council of State of the Republic of Cuba at the proposal of the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the Peoples to acknowledge the trajectory of solidarity with this Caribbean nation and in defense of the Revolution.
