As a result of the siege that occurred in the Sourou region, six Chadian soldiers were killed, military sources confirmed, while CAR authorities blamed the rebels of the Coalition of Patriots for Change (CPC) for the incident.

General Moussa Haroun Tirgo, governor of the Logone Oriental province, assured that nothing will be as it was before, as five of all six soldiers were kidnapped and executed.

The military reinforced security along the border, said Julien Tawonya, mayor of Bitoye, where the attack occurred. He stated that the bodies of the soldiers still remain in the Central African Republic.

According to the CAR, its troops were pursuing CPC soldiers when a shooting broke out and a Chadian soldier was killed and five were injured, insurgents kidnapped all six soldiers, who were killed.

N’Djamena described the incident as a war crime and warned that it would not go unpunished.
