With the attendance of 20 Cuban and 30 Argentine companies, the 4th edition of the event, arranged by the Argentine Chamber of SMEs, Cuba’s Chamber of Commerce and the embassy of Cuba in Buenos Aires, became a platform in search of diversifying commercial exchange.
On speaking at the meeting, the vice president of the Cuban Chamber of Commerce, Ruben Ramos, highlighted how institutions and companies of both countries show today their interest in boosting goods and services in different areas, and among the main challenges is to achieve alliances that strengthen the capacity and level of services to be offered.
Ramos pointed out that foreign investment is essential for the economy of his country, which does not run to develop through sustainable projects despite being subjected to the US severe economic, commercial and financial blockade, tightened even amid the Covid-19 pandemic.
The official noted that the incorporation of science and innovation is turning into a necessity; such is the case of the biopharmaceutical sector, which generates products aimed at fighting diseases such as cancer, diabetic foot ulcers and now the development of five vaccine candidates against Covid-19.
Ramos underscored that the two countries are committed to cooperation and complementarity in times of crisis and an example was the recent visit to Havana of Argentina’s Minister of Health Carla Vizzotti, who, among other issues, discussed the possibility of jointly producing Cuban vaccines.
