Nurses’ work in Cuba described as essential

Havana, Jun 3 (Prensa Latina) Cuba's Public Health Minister, José Angel Portal, today described as essential the work carried out by nurses in the Caribbean island.

It is a profession of service, but also of many challenges, dedication and altruism, Portal stressed in a letter sent to these professionals on the occasion of the celebration of the Cuban Nurses’ Day.

The country is honored with the work you do as representatives of the most sensitive values of public health, which has an essential support in your daily work, said the minister.

On such a special day, he said, we would like to extend to you our most sincere congratulations and thank you for the commitment with which you undertake each day.

‘During this last year of confrontation with Covid-19, their contribution has been invaluable in safeguarding the health of our people,’ he emphasized. Their humane work, both in the red zones and in the communities, supporting the most diverse Cuban health programs, or in other sister countries providing their services, allowed them to grow in the face of adversities and support Cuba’s constant fight for life, the minister affirmed.

In their experience and dedication, he acknowledged, we have today a great support to carry out the very high responsibility we have assumed to carry out the health presence with our vaccination candidates in groups and territories at risk, and subsequently the mass vaccination of the population.

We trust in your sensitivity, professionalism and dedication to continue defending life together, said the Cuban Minister of Public Health.
