Serbian organizations call for the end of US blockade against Cuba

Belgrade, May 30 (Prensa Latina) An array of Serbian organizations paid tribute this weekend to the victims of NATO aggression against Yugoslavia (March-June 1999) and called for the end of the US blockade against Cuba.

In a solemn ceremony held in front of the Eternal Flame Obelisk in New Belgrade on Saturday, dozens of citizens gathered at the site dedicated to those killed by NATO´s 78-day bombing.

Members and activists of the New Communist Party of Yugoslavia (NKPJ), the Union of Communist Youth of Yugoslavia and the Belgrade Serbian-Cuban Friendship Association condemned the perfidious aggression.

On behalf of the three organizations, Aleksandar Banjanac, NKPJ Secretary-General, said that the 78-day aggression that caused thousands of deaths and injuries, as well as colossal material damage, clearly showed what an imperialist aggression against a sovereign and independent country means.

From this site, we want to express our solidarity with our brotherly people of Cuba, which is currently enduring huge pressure with the same consequences as Serbia back then, he stressed.

Banjanac stated that Cuba heroically faces longest blockade and most severe sanctions in the history of civilization, which have caused a humanitarian catastrophe.

That is why we exclaim today: Cuba is not alone! Cuba will win! Cuba yes! Yankees no! Long live Cuba! Long live Serbia!, Banjanac concluded.
