In this regard, the administrator of the Panama Tourism Authority (ATP), Ivan Eskildsen, said that the program intends for Panama to be recognized as a world-class sustainable tourism destination, thanks to the richness and diversity of its natural heritage and cultural, and the quality of its services.
In his words, to achieve this it is necessary to strengthen the institutional capacity of the ATP, invest in promotion, improve tourism products, infrastructure, maintenance and basic services.
Eskildsen highlighted that there are currently over 50 projects being executed in different provinces through the PMTS, with an investment of 400 million dollars.
The official supported this initiative as the new rethinking of the offer of the country’s tourism, which was successfully presented at the recent International Tourism Fair held in Spain.
Added to this measure is the allocation of 20 million dollars for the construction of the capital’s Cruise Port and the delivery of the order to proceed for the study, design, construction and financing of the interconnection of the Cinta Costera 3 with the Amador Causeway, with the goal of quickly connecting visitors with the Amador Convention Center and the Cruise Port.
According to the Minister of Public Works, Rafael Sabonge, the infrastructure, valued at ‘just over a thousand kilometers’, includes the construction of four vehicular lanes and a roundabout to interconnect with the existing road, and will benefit 1.8 million inhabitants.
