In a statement, the Party of God pointed out that the criminals do not represent Lebanese people who, throughout the war with neighboring country, supported refugees.
The overwhelming majority of Lebanese are oblivious to such behavior, vowing good neighborliness with Syria and hoping for normalizing relations.
The Islamic Resistance Party called on the authorities to open an investigation and arrest perpetrators.
The statement condemned local mobs charging against Syrian citizens and refugees in Lebanon with the purpose of preventing them from casting their votes in the neighboring country’s presidential elections.
Voters were heading (by bus and car) for the Syrian embassy in this capital, when suddenly supporters of the Christian Lebanese Forces party attacked them. The head of the Lebanese Forces Samir Geagea threatened those who voted for President Bashar al-Assad. ‘If you do not fear your government and do not appear to be refugees in fear, you should go home,’ he said.
