The topic of the conference, which took place online, was ‘Shaping the post-Covid-19 era: the role of Asia in the process of global recovery’, and was attended by heads of State and Government and senior officials from Asian countries.
Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh’s speech was celebrated by participants. He shared the experiences that have allowed Vietnam to be one of the countries that have fought the Covid-19 pandemic with best results, while keeping a good rate of economic growth.
Asia needs a new cooperation framework to help the economy to overcome this hard time and set the basis for sustainable and inclusive development in the future, he said.
The situation, noted Chinh, as quoted by the Vietnamese News Agency (VNA), requires that all the countries set aside conflicts and disagreements to unite and support each other in fighting the pandemic.
Vietnam is willing to cooperate with other States in a responsible manner in order to promote peace, stability, development and solidarity for the common interest and prosperity of the region and the world, the Prime Minister said.
The Future of Asia conference has been held every year since its creation in 1995 by the Japan’s Nikkei news agency, and is a space where Asian academics, and political and economic leaders debate on topics of common interest and the role of Asia in the world.
