‘Ecuador joins several other South American nations that have included Sputnik V in their vaccine portfolios against coronavirus (SARS-CoV-2, causing Covid-19) and many of them are already successfully using the Russian vaccine,’ noted Kirill Dmitriev, executive director of RDIF.
He said the approval of the drug by the Ecuadorian health authorities is an important step towards protecting people with a vaccine ‘of excellent clinical data, safety and life-saving efficacy.’
So far, the Russian vaccine has been registered in 66 countries with a total population of more than 3.2 billion people and is among the first in the world against Covid-19 in terms of the number of approvals issued by government regulators.
