Through a communiqué, the ELN Central Command considers that such statement ‘is essentially a smokescreen to hide its incapacity to advance a dialogue with the protesting communities in order to seek solutions to their needs.’
ELN’s members point out that ‘if the government is not capable of dialoguing with the population mobilized in the streets, it will not be able to do so with the ELN that has taken up arms.’
However, the guerrilla emphasizes that its delegation is in Havana, Cuba is ready to meet with it.
They emphasize that the Duque government knows that the ELN does not accept any imposition or unilateral conditions on which there is no agreement whatsoever.
Recently, in an exclusive interview with Prensa Latina, the head of the peace delegation of this guerrilla force in Havana, Pablo Beltran stated that the ELN insists on holding conversations for a political solution to the armed conflict in Colombia.
