‘We will not allow foreign troops on our territory. There will be no foreign bases in Pakistan,’ Qureshi said at a press conference in Islamabad, during which he reiterated his country’s support for the Afghan peace process.

After discarding that Pakistan will allow the establishment of US military bases on its territory, Qureshi pointed out that his country will continue facilitating the peace process in Afghanistan, the website of Daily Times reported.

He added that Pakistan supports Afghanistan in its efforts to achieve peace, prosperity and reconciliation.

Qureshi also hailed the recent ceasefire between the Afghan Government and the Taliban, and said that decision will allow for the creation of a favorable atmosphere for negotiations.

The withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan will be completed on September 11.

The last US air base in Pakistan, in the province of Balochistan, was evacuated in 2011 after a NATO bombings that killed 24 Pakistani soldiers, prompting Islamabad to close the base.
