On his official Twitter account, the foreign minister ratified Cuba’s solidarity with President of Belarus Alexander Lukashenko, and rejected the plots against his life and that of his family.

On April 16, the Belarusian Federal Security Service (FSB), with the support of the State Security Committee and the cooperation of Russian authorities, detained two people involved in plot to attack Lukashenko in Moscow.

According to the FSB, Belarusian citizens Alexandr Feduta and Yuri Zenkovich ‘planned to carry out a military coup in Belarus following the script of the so-called color revolutions and involving Ukrainian and local nationalists.’

The Russian security agency further confirmed that the actions included the physical elimination of the president and his family.

Both individuals had traveled to Moscow from the United States and, according to the inquiries, the Belarusian Government considered the participation in the organization of the operation of foreign intelligence services, such as the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) and the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

Investigations revealed that the plans were intended to be carried out in Minsk on May 9, during the Victory Day parade, and one of their purposes was the capture of radio and television centers to broadcast a speech to the people.
