Anti-abortion laws rejected in the United States

Washington, Apr 27 (Prensa Latina) The signing of laws in Montana and Oklahoma states to restrict the interruption of pregnancy has prompted new actions by the defenders of abortions, which have been legal nationwide since 1973.

In the view of opponents, these criticized initiatives hinder women’s decisions about reproduction and the links they have with healthcare providers.

However, Montana Governor Greg Gianforte, a Republican, praised three laws he enacted on Monday against abortions, and tweeted that life is precious and must be protected.

Due to one of these regulations, it is forbidden to perform an abortion after 20 weeks of pregnancy.

Meanwhile, the other two laws require doctors to offer pregnant women the option of seeing an ultrasound before proceeding to an abortion and that abortion pills should be administered in person, not otherwise.

On the other hand, Oklahoma Governor Kevin Stitt, a Republican, signed three laws aimed at minimizing abortion options if women wish to do so.

Only an Oklahoma licensed doctor certified in obstetrics and gynecology may perform an abortion, and for possible violations penalties for offenders will range from one to three years behind bars.

Likewise, no one can induce a woman to have an abortion after the end of the first trimester of pregnancy, unless it is performed in a hospital.
