During the climate summit starting on Thursday in Washington and whose opening ceremony was broadcast live at Lopez Obrador’s morning press briefing, the Mexican reforestation proposal was accepted.

Senior US government officials commented, ‘We see value in natural solutions related to planting trees, if we look at the climate change agenda, the issue of reforestation is a priority.’

They added, however, that Washington is not focused on the intersection of the issues. The climate agenda has to be approached on its own, based on its own merits, and moving forward. This is not a conversation about migration, but about climate change.

After President Joe Biden spoke at the opening session, heard in front of the journalists by Lopez Obrador, the Mexican president continued his morning press briefing at the National Palace to cut it off at the time he was due to give his message to the summit.

The two-day virtual summit meeting convened by Biden began with the participation of 40 presidents, including Lopez Obrador.

It seeks to restock the United States to a suitable place in fighting climate change and delete the bad image former President Donald Trump left behind regarding the issue.
