On Twitter, the regional integration bloc reported the arrival of a ship of the Bolivarian Navy of Venezuela, transporting drinking water and supplies donated by the Caribbean countries for those affected by the volcanic activity, in Saint Lucia on Saturday.
The Prime Minister of Saint Lucia, Allan M. Chastanet, was present during the unloading of the supplies and thanked ALBA-TCP for its collaboration in facilitating the transfer of humanitarian aid to the people of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines.
The Goajira T-63 ship arrived in Santa Lucia at the beginning of the week carrying 20 tons of humanitarian aid sent by Venezuela to support the care for those affected by volcanic activity.
Venezuelan authorities also sent a multidisciplinary team of 15 experts from the Simón Bolívar Humanitarian Task Force, to support evacuation, search, pre-hospital care and technical assistance.
Venezuelan Deputy Foreign Minister Raul Li Causi announced that the ship of the Bolivarian Navy would be at the disposal of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines to establish a sea bridge with different islands and countries in the Eastern Caribbean for the transport of supplies.
As part of the relief efforts, the Venezuelan experts of the humanitarian task force made a tour of the agricultural area of Sandy Bay, in the company of Minister of Agriculture Saboto Caesar, to assess the impact of the ashes on houses, and the local flora and fauna.
