The incident occurred in the city of Calama, in the northern region of Antofagasta, in April 2020, when the owner of a veterinary clinic, whose name was not disclosed, published a report on alleged successful results in Argentina with the use of a dog vaccine against coronavirus.
According to the regional Ministry of Health, at least 100 people would have received the eight-fold vaccine, used in dogs, even the veterinarian also received the shot, in addition to providing it to those interested in cross immunization, but did not apply vaccines.
Faced with the impossibility of checking the latter, the veterinarian was only fined with US$15,000 for serious breach of sanitary regulations for the illegal exercise as surgeon, but the man appealed, so sanction is still pending.
El mercurio newspaper pointed out that a veterinarian identified as M.F.M. acknowledged that she also self-administered the eight-fold vaccine to generate antibodies against Covid-19.
