In a press release on Monday, the health entity pointed out that the changes will depend on the national and world epidemiological situation, as well as on the signs of a real recovery.
Currently, the average number of citizens coming from abroad is from 750 to 800, which has allowed a downturn in the number of imported Covid-19 cases, especially from flights from the United States, Russia and some Latin American nations, explained Dr. Carmelo Trujillo, head of the International Health Control department of MINSAP.
According to the expert, after the implementation of new sanitary protocols for travelers, on February 6, only 909 Covid-19 cases were detected out of the 42,364 passengers having arrived in the country from that date until April 16.
Of those, 83 percent (759) were Cuban citizens, with the highest incidence among those returning from Russia, Spain and the US.
