Hassan said that Lebanon has been accredited by the World Health Organization for this type of experiments that would improve the country’s access to more vaccines, after guaranteeing effectiveness and security.
In due course, the Cuban diplomat said that Lebanon might participate in the third phase of clinical trials of Cuban vaccines Soberana 02 and Abdala.
After confirming the interest of this Mediterranean country’s authorities, the ambassador said that contacts will start to be made in order to reach an agreement within two weeks and secure the number of doses.
So far, he explained, experiments with the vaccine created in Cuba have included 150,00 people in Cuba, many others in Iran and Venezuela, with no records of serious side effects.
The Soberana 02 vaccine is effective in two or three doses and Abdala, in two, Pellicer said.
The Cuban ambassador said that if an agreement on clinical trials in Lebanon is not reached, he will send a file of each vaccine to this country’s Ministry of Health for it to study and use them in case of an emergency.
