In a tweet, the foreign minister hailed the beginning of this month-long tradition for the followers of Prophet Mohamed.

During that time, worshipers praise the moment Mohamed received the word of God through the Koran.

Considered one of the pillars of Islam, the thirty-day fasting is celebrated amid the Covid-19 pandemic for the second time. Restrictions due to the pandemic are affecting the traditions of the sacred month such as mass prayers or large family gatherings for night meals.
