The police opened fire at demonstrators in the northwestern city of Kale, where, according to Mizzima and Irrawaddy, five people were killed and several people were injured.

Another two protesters were killed in the city of Bago, near Yangon (south), according to Myanmar Now’s website.

So far, more than 580 people have been killed since the February 1 coup d’état, according to the Political Prisoners Association.

The group claims that dozens of children have been killed and nearly 3,500 people have been arrested, 2,750 of whom are still in prison.

There have been demonstrations and strikes throughout the country since then, despite the lethal use of force by soldiers to quell the opposition.

Major General Min Aung Hlaing, head of the ruling junta, said in a statement published on Wednesday that the civil disobedience movement had halted the work of hospitals, schools, roads, offices and factories.

Arrest warrants have been issued for hundreds of people, and the junta has pursued dozens of social media influencers, artists and musicians this week.

Naypidó, 7 abr (Prensa Latina) Al menos siete personas más murieron hoy en una nueva jornada de protestas antigolpistas en Myanmar, según reportes de medios locales.

Las fuerzas de seguridad abrieron fuego este miércoles contra los manifestantes en la ciudad noroccidental de Kale, donde según las publicaciones Mizzima e Irrawaddy hubo cinco víctimas mortales y varios heridos.

Otros dos manifestantes murieron en la ciudad de Bago, cerca de Yangon (sur), de acuerdo con la página digital Myanmar Now.
