Bolsonaro spoke by phone with Putin and ‘talked about the purchase and production of the Sputnik V vaccine in Brazil, trade between the two countries and cooperation in the defense industry’, according to an official statement.

In this regard, the Brazilian president wrote down on social networks that it was ‘a very productive talk, God willing we will soon be solving Sputnik V issue.’

The first batch, 100% produced in Brazil, was presented by the Unión Química Company on March 30.

The company, based in the Federal District, is a partner of the Russian Fund for Direct Investment. However, Sputnik V candidate has not yet been authorized for emergency use in Brazil.

Meanwhile, governors of at least 11 states have requested the import of over 66 million Sputnik V vaccine doses.
