Iran refuses to hold talks with the US on nuclear issues

Tehran, Apr 4 (Prensa Latina) Iran on Sunday reiterated that it will turn down any talks with the United States on the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA) or nuclear deal, from which Washington withdrew in May, 2018.

Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi refuted reports on a supposed meeting between delegations from both countries in Viena, Austria.

The reports indicated that both parties would hold direct and indirect talks, based on a meeting between JCPOA signatories slated for Tuesday.

Araqchi pointed out that Iran’s negotiations with Germany, France, the United Kingdom, China and Russia, signatories of the deal, will address technical aspects and measures taken by Tehran to counteract US sanctions.

‘What we will discuss at the JCPOA commission is based on positions reiterated by Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ali Jamenei of not giving in to Washington’s pressures.’

In any case, the United States must comply with all its obligations, Jamenei said, and lift sanctions, and after the verification, we will return to what was agreed upon in the nuclear deal in 2015.
