According to medical sources, the country reported 5,176 contagions, the highest number in a day so far, while active cases rose to 9,811, including 748 patients who are connected to artificial respiration devices.
Bulgaria, with 7,245,677 inhabitants, has accumulated more than 8,300 deaths since the pandemic broke out in March 2020, but even so, the Government of Prime Minister Boyko Borisov announced that restrictions will be eased.
Experts consider that Bulgaria, which is experiencing a third wave of Covid-19, must elect 240 legislators of the General Assembly (unicameral parliament) on Sunday.
With only 6.8 percent of the adult population immunized with the first dose of Covid-19 vaccines, Bulgarians should go to the polls, although the legislature passed voting laws amid the lockdown.
The party of the head of Government got 32.95 percent of votes in the March 2017 early elections and secured 95 seats, while the Bulgarian Socialist Party had 27.20 points and 80 seats.
