New Vietnam’s Parliament chairman elected

Hanoi, Mar 31 (Prensa Latina) Vuong Dinh Hue, member of the Political Bureau of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV), was elected on Wednesday by unanimous vote as chairman of the National Assembly (Parliament).

Hue replaces Nguyen Thi Kim Ngan, who has been warmly congratulated for her work as a chairwoman of Parliament since March 2016, when she became the first Vietnamese woman to take on such an important responsibility.

At the time of his election -with the favorable vote of 473 legislators present in the session- the new chairman of the Vietnamese Legislative led the CPV Committee in Hanoi, the capital.

Under the nation’s sacred flag, in front of the National Assembly and the electors, I swear, as a chairman of the National Assembly of Vietnam, absolute loyalty to the Fatherland, the people and the Constitution, as well as to strive to fulfill the tasks entrusted by the Party, the State and the people, Hue said when swearing in the position.

Hue, 64 and a CPV member since 1984, holds a Ph.D. in Economics and in this 11th Session of Parliament, the last of the 14th Legislature, he was also elected chairman of the National Electoral Council.

During the current session, the National Assembly will elect 25 new senior leadership positions, included the country’s President and Prime Minister.

On January 2021, the CPV Central Committee elected Nguyen Phu Trong as its general secretary for a third term.
