President Díaz-Canel visits Cuban central province

Villa Clara, Cuba, Jun 28 (Prensa Latina) President Miguel Díaz-Canel toured economic and social centers in Ranchuelo municipality, in this central Cuban province, on Friday, in the context of the government visits that he makes nationwide.

In correspondence with the demands of the population, Díaz-Canel inquired with local authorities about food production and marketing, the reduction of the budget deficit, and the relationship between state and non-state economic stakeholders.

The president also assessed the actions taken to implement the bankarization process, the combat against high prices, and the attention to those who neither study or work, among other issues.

Díaz-Canel started his tour at the Sugarcane Research Institute (INICA), where Director Irenaldo Delgado explained that they diversify the traditional objective of obtaining sugarcane varieties adapted to pests and diseases.

This is the only institution of the Azcuba group that has a biofactory, which produces banana vitroplants, flowers and protein plants, in addition to sugarcane, in conjunction with other research centers in the province, including those of BioCubaFarma, the local Vanguardia newspaper reported.

The head of State also visited the Ramio Lavandero Cruz Cigar Company, an emblematic center in Ranchuelo that is attached to the Tabacuba business group, which produces the Criollos, Populares and Titanes cigarette brands.

According to Director María del Carmen Denis, the company took advantage of a one-week stoppage due to breakdown to undertake maintenance and sanitation actions, and in the coming days it will resume the production of Populares cigarettes.

The Cuban head of state also visited an Elderly Home, where 25 senior citizens are taken care of during the day. There, he learned about the social and constructive transformations of the community in which the institution is located, which focus, fundamentally, on repairing buildings and taking care of vulnerable families.
