Bolivia to Host International Meeting on Bioceanic Railway
La Paz, Feb 17 (Prensa Latina) Bolivia prepares a meeting next March 21 between representatives of Germany, Switzerland, Peru and Paraguay to ratify the European nations as investors of the Bioceanic Central Railway Corridor (BCRC).
It was also confirmed the participation of deputy German Minister of Transport and Digital Infrastructure, Rainer Bomba.
We are going to generate the understanding memorandums to sign with Germany and show the progress of the project in charge of the countries involved, he explained.
The Minister of Public Works, Services and Housing of the Andean nation, Milton Carlos said to local media that the meeting has as main objective to advance in agreements on the construction of the railway.
Claros explained the strategy of the BCRC is an investment project, not a financing one.
The Bolivian authority recalled that after the meeting held in Berlin at the end of January, the idea is to accelerate procedures and 'take an immediate decision', as the door to the Atlantic could be, for the moment Paraguay, through the waterway.
The BCRC pretends to join the port of Santos in Brazil (Atlantic ocean) with that of Ilo in Peru (Pacific) through Bolivian territory with the idea of arriving to the markets of China, South Korea, India and Japan.
The lines through which will pass the train are already projected and all corresponding studies were made to demonstrate it will not provoke environmental damage.
