Irish President Presents Book at Fair in Cuba
16 de febrero de 2017, 18:30Havana, Feb 16 (Prensa Latina) Irish President Michael D. Higgins asserted today here that it was a great pleasure for him to know the Havana International Book Fair and attend the presentation of the Cuban edition of ''The Sea of The Star.''
The book by Joseph O'Connor was the first Irish contemporary novel published in Cuba after Ulises, by James Joyce, said the president during his speech at the Nicolas Guillen hall at San Carlos de La Cabana Fortress.
This book has been internationally acclaimed, awarded and published in several languages. Besides, O'Connor is well-known as one of the most important and influential authors in the Irish contemporary literature, he said.
The president also said to be very pleased with Irish writers participating in the most important literary event in Cuba
The presentation of this novel was also attended by its author, Joseph O'Connor, Cuban Culture Minister Abel Prieto, the president of the Cuban Book Institute, Juan Rodriguez Cabrera, and a large Irish delegation.
