Irish President Michael Higgins Arrives in Cuba
15 de febrero de 2017, 17:32Havana, Feb 15 (Prensa Latina) Irish President Michael Higgins arrived today in this capital to begin an official visit to Cuba, as part of his tour of Latin America, the first of the region by a Head of State of that European country.
Mr. Higgins traveled accompanied by officials from his Administration and was welcomed upon arrival by Cuban Foreign Vice Minister Rogelio Sierra.
Today, Higgins will have a meeting with Cuban President Raul Castro Ruz and pay tribute to the Cuban National Hero Jose Marti at the Revolution Square in this capital.
The Irish President will attend the 26th Havana International Book Fair, where he will participate in different activities at the San Carlos de la Cabana Fortress, the main venue to this literary event.
He will also deliver a masterly lecture on Friday at the Saint Geronimo College in the historic center of Havana.
His official visit to Cuba will last until February 18.
