Russia Awaits End of Spiral of Sanctions from the US
11 de enero de 2017, 17:22Moscow, Jan 11 (Prensa Latina) Russia has stated that they are awaiting the end of the spiral of sanctions from the United States and have added that new restrictions proposed by US senators, will cause considerable damage to US-Russian bilateral relations and the global economy.
Kremlin spokesman, Dmitri Peskov, said that the punishing measures proposed recently by ten US senators, would not only damage links between Moscow and Washington, but also the whole world economic system.
'There will be negative consequences for Russia, but the nation can reduce the risks,' said Peskov when commenting on the US proposal to punish third countries investing in Russian deposits, oilfields, or projects for development of nuclear energy for peaceful purposes.
The controversial package of sanctions by the US senators includes reprisals against those who take part in selling or buying operations of Russian debt.
The president of the Union of Entrepreneurs and Industrial Owners of Russia, Alexander Shojin, stated that new sanctions will considerably damage the Russian private sector and commercial freedoms.
Shojin added that in case of these sanctions being approved by the US Congress and signed by the outgoing President Barack Obama before the new administration starts on January 20th, it will very difficult for Trump to reverse them.
The proposal is backed by both Democrat and Republican senators, the latter has a majority in both chambers.
Washington is now using, as a pretext, the alleged participation of Russia in cyber-attacks interfering in the US electoral process. The White House has not presented evidence with respect to the accusations.
