UN Calls for not Forgetting the Suffering of Palestinian Refugees
09 de enero de 2017, 16:50United Nations, Jan 9 (Prensa Latina) Pierre Krahenbuhl, Commissioner-General of the United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees (UNRWA), called today here for not forgetting the support needed by 5,200,000 Palestinians.
Krahenbuhl said in Geneva that some people ask why with the new crises, as the flow of refugees and immigrants seeking to reach Europe, they must continue to prioritize Palestinians, but he reiterated that the world cannot forget them, while asking for resources to secure humanitarian aid in the West Bank, the Gaza Strip and Syria.
According to Krahenbuhl, these are human beings subjected to an occupation, displacements, blockades, unemployment and conflicts, in a scenario worsened by decades of problems.
He said that the world cannot forget that this is the 50th year of the occupation and the tenth of the blockade against Gaza, both staged by Israel.
Krahenbuhl mentioned the harsh situation lived by millions of Palestinians in the Gaza Strip, a territory attacked by Israel three times in the last seven years and subjected to a harsh and illegal blockade since 2007.
