Bolivia: Sixth Stage of the Dakar Rally is Suspended due to Rain
La Paz, Jan 7 (Prensa Latina) The Amaury Sport Organization (ASO), organizer of the Dakar Rally, confirmed today the suspension of the sixth stage due to the heavy rain.
The Minister of Tourism Cultures of this nation, Marko Machicao, released the information in his Twitter account.
Competitors of the DakarBo will arrive in La Paz approximately at 13:30 local time, Machiao added.
With this cancellation, the competitors will travel from the city of Oruro to La Paz, about 224.7 kilometers.
Minutes before the announcement, the Rally director, Spanish Marc Coma communicated that decision to the pilots at the Oruro camp, where they were recovering and repairing their machines, after a demanding journey from Tupiza to that Bolivian city and shortened due to the bad weather.
According to the ASO, the test will maintain the rest scheduled for tomorrow in La Paz and the competition will be resumed on Monday with the route between the Headquarters of Government and the city of Uyuni, about 622 kilometers.
A day later, the Dakar 2017 will leave Bolivian territory with the stage between Uyuni and the Argentinean city of Salta.
