China Starts Preparing for World Military Games 2019
Beijing, Jan 6 (Prensa Latina) The armed forces started officially preparing for the 7th World Military Games (WMG) 2019 by establishing the organizing committee of the event.
The WMG are coordinated by the International Council of Military Sports (CIDM) and held every four years.
The 7th edition will be held in 2019 in Wuhan, capital of the central province of Hubei, being this the first time that China hosts games of that kind for military athletes.
The country will try to turn these competitions into an event with Chinese characteristics, said Zheng He, of the Central Military Commission, at the conference of foundation of the Committee.
He added that the country advocates for the event to be an opportunity to increase exchanges between the world's armed forces, promote the development of sports for military personnel and establish the international influence of the nation and Chinese army.
Local governments and non-government forces will participate in the organization of the event, advanced Zheng.
The first edition os the WMG was hosted by Italy in 1995 and the sixth one in the Republic of Korea in October, 2015.
The CIDM has 135 member countries and is the biggest organizar of sports events for the national armed forces, of which the Chinese Army became a member in 1978.
