I am Very Proud of Being a Paralympic Athlete Says Omara Durand
04 de enero de 2017, 17:48Havana, Jan 4 (Prensa Latina) Cuban multi-champion Omara Durand, 25, has been selected as the best disabled athlete of Cuba for 2016.
The sprinting champion said today that she feels very proud of being a Paralympic athlete.
'I am not going to compete as a conventional athlete or attend any competition where conventional athletes participate,' Durand, gold medal winner in the 100, 200 and 400-meter races for the partially sighted in the Paralympic Games in Rio de Janeiro 2016, told the Prensa Latina news agency.
Durand said that her main goal this year was to run her three preferred races at the World ParaAthletics Championships, to be held in London from July 14th to 23rd.
'My biggest challenges are to compete in the Tokyo 2020 Games and keep up my sports results', said Durand.
The Cuban star runner is considered the world's fastest disabled woman.
