Riberalta,-La Paz, Nov 22 (Prensa Latina) For Bolivian President Evo Morales, what is happening in some South American nations where the right has returned to power, is the cause for deep reflection in our social movements and the time is now for the Revolution to go in depth.
Crossing the Andes mountain range at night is a proper setting for this exclusive interview with Prensa Latina on board the presidential plane, returning from a day of 19 hours in the Amazonic department of Beni, where the traditional optimism of Evo rises over the regional
Those of us who bet for dignity and sovereignty of our peoples, emphasized Morales, we are convinced that at any moment, the social movements will recover the processes of the democratic revolution in South America and Latin America.
What happens with basic services, even in neighboring countries of Bolivia, he detailed, calls the attention that although some people were mistaken at the polls, now they are sorry for the results of their errors in the democratic participation.
Those of us who do not lose their horizon and have principles and values, accompanied by programs and development projects but also of liberation, we trust in victory in this hard battle, stressed the Head of State.
I rely very much in social movements, he asserted. In Bolivia, he explained, the social movements made history with positive results for the people, we share experiences of struggle and have a lot of events of social, political, economic and, above all, ideological character, that is the most important thing.
In this change in a sector that passed from being poor to being middle class with the Process of Change, he indicated, considering
that it might have been 'the error of the government to not ideologize it, because the ideology accompanies the program of liberation and the projects which defend freedom and sovereignty of the peoples, that is why it is so important'.
We are not in times of oligarchies and monarchies, much less of anarchies and we must also face the financial anarchies, while stressing 'we have a group of policies we must adopt to guarantee this definitive liberation, the second liberation of the peoples of Bolivia after the foundation of the Republic'.
We passed through difficult moments, coups d'Etat, military dictatorships, now we are in times of deepening our Revolution, emphasized the head of State.
Asked about the issue of regional integration and the attempts of the United States to boycott the unity of Latin America and the Caribbean, Morales clarified there are many issues in the topic of integration, but he insisted that we fundamentally need political integration.
He recalled that great leaders who have boosted regional integration in recent times like Hugo Chavez, Lula (Luiz Inacio Lula da Siulva), Nestor Kirchner, among others, and he highlighted the achievement of incorporating State topics to this process.
We have consolidated the South American Union of Nations (Unasur) after 200 years of the foundation of the republics and thanks to Fidel (Castro) we consolidated the Community of Latin American and Caribbean States (Celac), he affirmed.
I always remember, he commented, when Fidel told me after creating Celac: Evo, what I dreamed has come true.
Also, he added, today the OAS (Organization of American States) is another, but the United States keeps being a member and emphasized that an OAS without Cuba, for Latin America and the Caribbean, keeps being a pending issue inside the liberation process of the whole region.
But, which is the onslaught of the U.S. empire?, he asked and answered that 'the United States try to divide us in Unasur with the Alliance of the Pacific and to return to the policies of the Washington Concensus or the ALCA (Free Trade Area of the Americas)'.
I cannot understand that some presidents in South America maintain that same policy of dividing Unasur, he stated, after lamenting that not all the social movements in the region are organized to guarantee this integration process for the liberation of our peoples in the face of domination policies.
The United States attempts to use some presidents to weaken us, denounced Morales, at the same time he clarified 'it is an internal debate of how the United States is using some pro-imperialist or pro-capitalist countries of the region pretending we cease to use Celac'.
There I again reiterate my confidence in social movements, he highlighted, to refer then to other forms of territorial integration and invite the other South American countries to speak about roads and airlines. At times it is faster to get to Europe from Bolivia than to arrive at Paraguay or Colombia, he exemplified.
That is another form of integration and we are advancing in some important topics, he announced, to later recall a great dream shared with Hugo Chavez and Fidel Castro, of creating an airline ALBA (Bolivarian Alliance of the Peoples of our America) that departs from Bolivia, passes by Ecuador, Venezuela, Nicaragua and reaches Cuba.
In other spheres of integration, asserted Morales, we need roads, railroads and there is a great Project for South America and it is the railway corridor from the Atlantic Ocean to the Pacific, with which exports and imports of our countries are going to reduce time and costs, said the Bolivian President.
