President-elect of Ecuador Receives Support From Social Organizations
Quito, Apr 21 (Prensa Latina) Ecuador''s President-elect Lenin Moreno now has the support of a new front, the Pact of Unity of Peoples, Nationalities, Social Organizations and Workers.
The group, formed by social organizations throughout the country, was created to generate an agenda along with the winner of the elections of April 2, which will facilitate the fulfillment of his campaign promises.
The Confederation of Nationalities and Indigenous Peoples of the Ecuadorian Coast, the National Confederation of Peasant, Indigenous and Black Organizations, the Federation of Evangelical Indigenous Churches in Pichincha and the Afro Peoples Association are among the signatories of the commitment.
The Ecuadorean Labor Parliament, the Assembly of Afro-Ecuadorian Popular Organizations, the Federation of Communes of Santa Elena and the Public Sector Union also signed the pact.
The members of the front hope that the incoming government will take into account issues such as agrarian revolution, political participation, interculturality, rights of nature, socialism of good living and organizational strengthening.
The organizations highlighted the transparency and honesty of the officials of the National Electoral Council during the voting process and, at the same time, rejected the position adopted by CREO-SUMA opposition and its former presidential ticket candidates, Guillermo Lasso and Andrés Paez, who refused to recognize the results of the elections.
