India and Cuba Strengthen Cooperation in Biotechnology
New Delhi, Apr 19 (Prensa Latina) India may get benefits with the progress of Cuban biotechnology, one of the greatest achievements by Cuba after the triumph of the Revolution in 1959.
Those were the words by Cuban expert Ibis Portuondo, sales manager for Cuban firm HERBER BIOTEC.
'We are here to promote the relations between Cuban and Indian firms in this field, and cooperate in joint projects,' Portuondo stated.
As an example, she mentioned the one called HEBERPROT P, a unique medication of its kind in the world, which eliminates the ulcers provoked by diabetic feet, already tested and used in several countries.
In this sense, she emphasized the support and the vision of the historical leader of the Cuban Revolution, Fidel Castro, main guardian of the development of the scientific pole located in the capital of the Caribbean island.
As part of their tour along this nation, Portuondo met with businessmen and specialists of diverse Indian firms dedicated to the biotechnology and the pharmaceutical industry.
For his part, the Cuban Ambassador in India, Ã'scar Martínez, revealed that Havana and New Delhi maintain conversations to sign an understanding memorandum in this sector.
Both parts are interested in reaching a mutually beneficial agreement, he specified.
